The first time I stumbled upon Secret Beach in Malinao, I wasn't even looking for it. I was riding my motorbike down a quiet side road, taking the long way home, when I noticed a small path leading toward the water. Something about the way the light filtered through the coconut palms made me stop and walk down to investigate. What I found was this perfect crescent of soft white sand, completely empty except for a few hermit crabs scuttling about. It's become my go-to spot when I need to reset after the busier parts of island life. The water here is incredibly clear and calm, perfect for a peaceful swim without the crowds you'll find at other beaches. Getting there is easy – just a short motorbike ride from General Luna followed by a five-minute walk through the trees. I always bring a book and some water, and try to visit in the late afternoon when the light gets golden and magical. Trust me, after days of surfing and island-hopping, you'll crave this kind of gentle solitude.
